iGoogle home page:
Teachers began this module with logging in to their GMail (Mymail.lausd.net) accounts and looking at the options for the LAUSD iGoogle home page. At this point, teachers have students accounts and limited options for what can be added to their iGoogle home page.
Teachers viewed a video about using Google Docs in the Classroom, with teachers sharing ideas about how they use Google Docs with students.
Content Dictionary: Teachers worked on creating content dictionaries in a Google Doc, entering a word, their own definition of the word, the word used in a sentence, and a picture of a word. Everyone learned to access Creative Commons to search for their word pictures. In Creative Commons, users will find images with permission for use.
As part of vocabulary building, Sara demonstrated the site Visuwords, and teachers had time to explore this free tool.
Professional Learning Communities: Presenters shared information about a number of on-line learning communities, including ones specific for Middle Schools. Teachers spent time reviewing different sites where they can access resources and interact with colleagues.
The group previewed Animoto.
